I don't think I'm a material girl living in a material world, but I do have some concerns. I like my routines and O.K, I'll admit it...my things. When I wake up in the middle of the night I like knowing just how far I have to reach to check the time on my cell, or exactly how many steps it is from the bed to the bathroom. Oh, and that's another thing--one can not overestimate the benefits of a familiar toilet.
For me Albergues are the great unknown. The concept of curling up in a bunk amid a hostel with 183 of my new Pilgrim buddies (and their various night noises) is almost beyond my comprehension. I almost thought I had wrapped my head around it. "Honey", I said, "You can take the bottom bunk and I'll take the top bunk...it will be O.K." Then your Dad points out that these places are super busy and having bunks together is definitely not a guarantee. WHAT? I'm all for every man for himself, but I want to be the man that gets bunks together. Just breathe, just breathe, come and rest at my feet And be, just be, chaos calls but all you really need Is to just breathe~Jonny Diaz You Are Always in My Prayers. Love Mom. Disclaimer: My next Camino Post will be from the road. You know Aunt Gillian, Uncle Dennis and Jon are walking this with us ("ish"--which is as "with" as five people finding their own way on this journey can be!) Although I am sure that there will be spectacular stories at family gatherings for years to come, I will be leaving their stories for them to share. Blog posts will be confined to the triumphs, trials and tragedies of #TeamMom&Dad |
