Akrotiri is like the Greek Pompeii - only a lot older. This Minoan settlement was buried in volcanic ash during an eruption in 1627 BC. Although they have found well preserved pottery, furniture, and buildings, they have found very little of what we would consider treasure. They must have had time to take it with them. I wonder what I would take if I could only take what was most valuable to me? What would you take?
Do you see what is valuable to Dad? Yup, he is not going to share that grilled octopus leg with anyone! Of course, unlike a turkey leg, there are eight legs to share instead of two! I chose a Santorini Greek salad😀
You are Always in My Prayers. Love Mom.
Nexus Note: Walking by seafood restaurants down by Amoudi Bay I noticed several octopus grilling over charcoal. Today I got a chance to try octopus at a restaurant right by the sea. Since I ordered it off the appetizer menu it was just a single tentacle. The white meat was tender but did not flake quite like fish. The taste to me was a little like crab. It was served with a lemon and olive oil. I really enjoyed the meal. Ray
