Greetings from the land of spectacular waterfalls, mighty glaciers, and black lava rock beaches! And even better--NO SNOW Shovelling! First thing this morning we toured the Hellisheioi geothermal plant. The energy harvested from the hot water deep under the surface of the earth is used to provide hot water and electricity for the city of Reykjavik. The average home owner pays only $75 /month inclusive for all of water, hot water, electricity, and home heating. The run off is passed through pipes under the city's walks and streets robbing the Reykjaviks the joy of snow shovelling.
The beauty of Iceland is truly indescribable. As we relax in Vik, in the shadow of the Katla Volcano, we are feeling truly blessed.
You are Always in Our Prayers. Love Mom.
