Just when we think our Italian is improving we get foaming hot milk out of the coffee machine when we think we've pressed cappuccino, or Dad has an awkward moment trying to pronounce the Column of Phocas. Oh! Oh!---wait for it...my favourite "Dad Moment" in the last couple of days was when I rounded a corner at the Colosseum and found him sitting on an ancient pillar playing Candy Crush (please let him conquer this level soon).
Today was our Vatican Museum marathon--five hours! Even that was just enough time to nibble at everything that is in there let alone try to digest it. Although I was "alone in the world", so to speak, at Sphere within Sphere, I definitely wasn't alone in the Sistine Chapel. Then I had my unicorn moment (those instances you wish for but you are not sure you will ever acquire). The Father approached the microphone, hushed the crowd, and prayed. Among the frescoes Jesus was there.
You are Always in my Prayers. Love Mom.
