We are currently in Essaouira, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001. From the sound of the name and the howling of the wind, I was sure it meant "the Windy City"--apparently not. The first sight we saw when we opened our window this morning was a camel train being led down the beach. You sure don't see that in Grand Bend!
We spent most of the day at the port and the medina. The small fishing boats are almost all a colourful blue which really makes the harbour sparkle. Everywhere you turn there are seagulls looking for snacks. They especially hover over the fish cleaners--fish guts....yum! Everywhere we go in Morocco we get a deeper impression of its diversity. Only a few more days left to experience as much as we can, but it is safe to say we have fallen in love with Morocco. Many Europeans winter here. I can certainly see why. Home soon. You Are Always in My Prayers. Love Mom

No, they seem much to busy following the fishing boats and hanging around the fish cleaners. When you buy a fish at the fish market by the port you take t over to the fish cleaners who will cut it up and clean it for you and throw the guts and discarded parts to the seagulls.

Morocco has a lot of different types of food, having been influenced by cultures all over the world including French and Spanish. The local Berber food that is most identified as Moroccan is tagine is a Berber North African dish that is named after the earthenware pot in which it is cooked and is a kind of a stew.

This has been a fantastic trip, with many great sites and activities. It would not rate in my top three (South India, Turkey, Italy).

The smaller blue boats go out at night and fish long line (a long line with multiple baited hooks) for larger fish. The large fishing boats use nets and fish for sardines. The sardines seem to be a particular favorite in Morocco.

You see a lot of Mercedes in Morocco. Even though they are an expensive car, a lot of the cars you see are for business or the rich. You also see small Fiats and of course a lot of motor bikes. In the countryside you see a lot of farm Vehicles like trucks, wagons and sometimes tractors. Of course do kites and camels are popular to get around but those are t cars😄

They usually own a bunch of camels. Some would be related and some not.
