One Easter Sunday--the eleven rock-hewn churches of Lalibela. Often we would wind our way through dark passages in the rocks to reach the next church. Each is chiselled from a single rock but all are unique one from the other. My favourites were St. George's and The Church of Mary. St. George's has the spectacular church roof displaying a cross. St. Mary's is the most ornate.
Today Lalibela celebrates Christ's resurrection. Families feast and dress in their finest. Yes, I did see the slaughtering of a goat. No, I didn't photograph it--You are welcome!
You are Always in my Prayers. Love Mom.
We are heading off to Awash tomorrow. I'm not sure if we will have wifi for the next couple of days.
