It almost doesn't sound possible, but the choicest part of our day was spent touring the sewers of Paris. It did stink down there, and it was damp and gross--but that was what made it such a novel experience. Did you know that Victor Hugo's description of the Paris swear system (Les Miserable) is considered historically significant? Hugo was friends with the sewer inspector and was able to base Jean Valjean’s adventures on factual information. Anyway, in spite of our morning activities we still enjoyed our fresh baguette traditional for lunch.

Merci!

Il n'y pas les ratons. We saw disgusting sludge (we dont even want to know what that was).

If we are travelling Europe we always buy Rick Steves guide books--it was in there and it sounded like something unique. There are also (apparently) all sorts of rogue tours down in the sewer system. We prefer to not participate in events that might get us arrested😄

Le chemin n'est pas direct...but there are good signs.
