Yes, they do look like they're having fun. It looks like they were trying to make a heart. What else are you going to see? How big was the boat you were sitting in? Were you nervous?

Check out today's post for everything we saw today. We are still hoping to see elephants and lions. The hippo boat was quite big and probably could hold 80 people. We were on the top deck. It felt pretty safe.

We are wondering if you were in an open or closed vehicle when you saw the hippos. How far away from them did you have to stay?

We were on the top story of a two story boat so it felt pretty safe. The closest one was about 10 metres away.

It looks like the hippos are having fun. Was the water rough? Did the hippos create waves? We hope you see all of "the big 5" on your adventure today.

The water when were on the hippo Boat was calm. On the shark boat it was really rough and I was quite sea sick. The hippos make quite a good wave when they duck under the water.

Yes, hippos are local to South Africa. They are not an introduced species.

We saw two medium sized hippos having a little scrap.A bigger hippo broke it up... I'm not sure but it might have been the mother.

If you google happy hippo you can see that there are a lot of children's books that say that....I don't even think they look like they are smiling in real life....maybe just because it is alliteration people say It!

We just passed through Durban, but the airport looked really modern. We have seen lots of animals but only 2 of the Big Five.

Did you know that more people die from hippos every year than sharks. How do you feel about not swimming with the sharks now?

Yes I knew that. Two of my sons went on a canoe trip down the Zambezi and they were warned how vicious hippos were. I still would have liked to see sharks.
