Today was another early start. Before the sun was up we headed to the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve. When we got there we loaded up in a game vehicle and headed off, with the help of a ranger, to search for animals. Our guide was a lot of fun. He would only stop the vehicle if we whispered hallelujah when we found an animal. We were so excited that it was hard to whisper, but there were a lot of hallelujahs😄
Within 10 minutes we had found four rhinos! We had huge smiles on our faces the whole day. My favourite were the giraffes. They are not part of the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, rhino) but they are so much fun to watch when they move. I took hundreds of pictures so there are way to many to post. So here is the deal.....you can pick one more animal from today's list and I will post it tomorrow. Your Choices: rhino, warthog, cape buffalo, more giraffes, dung beetle (pushing a big ball of poop), zebra So now we have two of the Big Five. We are still hoping to see a lion and an elephant. Leopards are hard to find. You Are Always in My Prayers. Love Mom. Great Eights and Super Sevens We are now in Swaziland. It is not a democracy, but apparently the people speak well of their king. He is very wealthy and has fifteen wives. Many of the people are very poor. Would a democracy change the balance?

We have not seen any snakes yet. The locals think that is a good thing since they have many venomous snakes. Honey badgers being both a smaller animal and rather shy are not commonly seen. Tomorrow we have eight hours in Kruger, so maybe tomorrow. The weather is very wet due to cyclone Dineo.

Were all the animals near the watering hole? How tall do you think the giraffes were? Did you see any elephants yet?

No some of the rhinos and Cape Buffalo were near the watering hole but some not. Clearly rhinos and water buffalo like rolling in the mud.

We drink a lot of water. In the cities the tap water is safe to drink (not true in other parts of Africa). At breakfast I enjoy guava juice which is thick and sweet. They have most the soft drinks you can find in Canada, with Coke being an big investor in South Africa.

The giraffes are such beautiful animals. How many giraffes did you see? Did you see any baby giraffes?

If the king were to kick the bucket, who would ascend to the throne? Also we think that a democracy could help with the balence but it could also lead to corruption and make it worse.
