Our class did some research on coatimundis, we agree that they look very similar to the raccoons, especially their faces and their nose.

The gum had very little taste and was very sticky. It is boiled to start the process of turning into chewing gum. The tree is tapped by making zig zag slashes of the bark and collecting the sap.

The slashes are made to allow the sap to run out and collected.

They use machetes to cut zig zags into the bark. The sap runs out and is collected in plastic bags.

The Coates are all female except for one. The male will watch over the group at all times

The young males stick with the pack and you can often see them wrestling.
