How fitting that we are ending our adventure in Casablanca. Although the movie wasn't even filmed in Morocco, I call almost sense Humphrey Bogart seeing us off at the plane.
The city is part French, part Moroccan--part Art Deco, part Casbah--part extremely wealthy, part struggling to get by. The joke our guide tells is that if you see a young man carrying an umbrella in Casablanca in July, then it must be raining in Paris. The wealthy compete to send their children to French schools and live in prestigious neighbourhoods. I think I miss the Amazighs (Berber) villages. Hypocritically, I suppose, I have thoroughly enjoyed the Hassan II Mosque and the Cathedral Notre Dame De Lourdes. The stain glass windows in Notre Dame were designed by Gabriel Loire (another nod to the French). When you enter you are simply awestruck. The building feels like a skeleton created just to hold up the stained glass. We get on a plane early tomorrow morning. So, here's looking at you, kid😄 As Time Goes By....You are Always in My Prayers. Love Mom. P.S. If you haven't seen the movie Casablanca, they have it at the North Perth Library--all you need is a library card

Have you any photos of the cathedral and it's stained glass to post here or Facebook? JH

I emailed you a little video I took of the stain glass. It is not top quality, but it will give you some idea.

Is it developed or underdeveloped as a whole?

That is a very good question. I will answer based on what I saw, which I am sure is not the whole story. The big cities were very developed. Casablanca (in the rich section) would look almost like Toronto with great highways, overpasses etc. In the countryside we would say it is less developed. However, our guide stated that often the poor in the city are poorer than poor in the country as the poor in the cou try generally eat and things are less expensive than the city. And who is to judge, for example, the nomads who would most likely be unhappy if they had to live where we would call "more developed"

It was...and although you obviously can't hear it, the crashing of the waves just added to the drama.

Most people think of Africa as hot all the time, but March is still winter there and most days we had to wear a light jacket. Spending on where we were between 15-25 degrees

How long did it take to build the building that is like a skeleton?

From the in I formation I could find it looks like it was started in 1954 and completed in 1956. The parts that aren't stained glass look like they have a lot of concrete.

Well, as you may know we are spending April in Paris. We also have Greek booked for Sept 2016. Nothing else is booked yet for next year, but we are also going to try to get to Peru, Dubai and Jordan. As long as we have good health we hope to keep travelling.

Well, it is a Black & White movie and the acting might seem a little stiff, but it was good. It is set and shot During the Second World War. Not all the facts are accurate, but it does give you a big of a feel of the tension. Spoiler Alert: it doesn't have a happy ending.
