Cases linked to the long-term care and retirement home outbreaks declared at Caressant Care about two weeks ago escalated over the weekend. According to the latest numbers released Thursday, 100 people there have tested positive for COVID-19: 43 residents and 21 staff members from the long-term care home, and 29 residents and seven staff members from the adjoining retirement home.
Four residents who had tested positive for COVID-19 have died during the outbreaks, described on Thursday by Miriam Klassen, the region’s medical officer of health, as “significant.”Residents began to be removed from the home Tuesday, either because they needed an increased level of care or because of capacity issues at the facility, she added.“The increased workload in the facility does require a lot of staff, and so some have been moved in order to ensure they get … the basic level of care that they need.” Huron Perth public health, the South West Local Health Integration Network, and the Huron-Perth Pandemic Leadership Triad are are also providing support at Caressant Care. —Stratford Beacon Herald And then this....
Effective Thursday, January 14, 2021at 12:01 a.m., the government is issuing a stay-at-home order requiring everyone to remain at home with exceptions for permitted purposes or activities, such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services, for exercise or for work where the work cannot be done remotely. This order and other new and existing public health restrictions are aimed at limiting people's mobility and reducing the number of daily contacts with those outside an immediate household. CBC News Ontario will enter strict lockdown on Dec. 26, nearly all non-essential businesses to close Well, I’m officially retiring the sheltering page (hoping to NOT have to return). We are heading into phase three—we’ve visited the Pinery—life is different but good. Blessings... Love Mom.
