My horse was Jack and Ray’s horse was Thunder. Jack was a really gentle horse and I really enjoyed riding him. The family dogs ran along beside us as we rode. Occasionally they would break off to chase a few stray cattle. Our guide kept his machete out at all times to whack away at the bushes if they blocked our path. We headed two hours by horseback into the jungle. Once we were there we enjoyed a very refreshing swim at a swimming hole with a small waterfall. Nature is beautiful here in St Ignacio and we are really enjoying the weather. Home soon—you are always in my prayers. Love Mom.

Crikey Diane, what an adventure you're having!! I take it you'd ridden before? And the ATM caves - we all chickened out of that one, plus the tubing was cancelled due to heavy rains the day before. And wasn't Caye Caulker a lovely escape? We weren't thrilled with Tucan Travel and our rubbish tour guide. Which company again are you travelling with? Keep on living that life!! Dx

I’m usually pretty comfortable with riding...but on this ride one of our group got tossed off of her horse. Fortunately she wasn’t hurt, but it made me a bit more careful.

We liked watching you ride the horse. Did you get to feed the horses before or after your ride?

We didn’t get to feed the horses afterward but Ray’s horse keep straying off the path to eat grass. It was really funny.

I think to owner named the horses to suit their personalities. Jack was really calm and Thunder was spunky.

It was just a spring fed watering hole where the locals swam. Our guide said he had been swimming there since he was a young boy.
