We got up at 5:30 a.m. to take two trains and a bus to the Aalsmeer Flower Auction—the largest flower Auction in the world. It was worth it to get this video. I think you will recognize the STAR!

What type of forklift were they using?

While they look a little like a forklift they are just for pulling carts and are called tow tractors. There were little ones like I was “driving “ to pull a few carts, and bigger ones pulling the long trains of carts. They were all electric.

Not in Aalsmeer, but on our first full day in Netherlands we went to the tulip experience and brought 10 tulips home and enjoyed them on the small kitchen table.

While you could smell the flowers we were up on a walkway above the warehouse floor so it wasn’t too strong.

It took over an hour and involved two trains and a bus. The trains and buses are amazing and they have great apps to help you plan your journey. No we did not get any floors.

We did not get any flowers since they are really selling the flowers to flower wholesalers (big companies) all over the world.

Do you have a sense of how many people visit the flower factory? Is it intentially built to have tourists go through? Are the tours part of their income?

Could not get any fugues on how many visitors but there was a lot. It was crowded at the entry but then since the elevated walkway is so long going up one up the a long part of the warehouse and looping back it did not to crowded except when passing a group tour. They charge an entry fee and have a gift store but I don’t think it’s a big part of their income.

They have so many flowers to sell, organize and ship out and it has to be done very fast. Within hours everything will be on its way to the buyers.

This is the second time on this trip I have used Timelapse to make things move faster. I did leave a few clips at normal speed. I really do like the effect and often find it amusing.

There are around 280 battery powered scooters hauling shuttles of trolleys, as well as a miniature railway, all used to haul each day’s 20 million flowers around the building.
