Everything we read reminds us that the Camino requires physical, spiritual, and mental preparation. This month's (4 month pre-Camino) blog post is going to concentrate on my woeful tale of mental preparation.
When I describe my dilemma (one of many) half of you are going to say "I'm with ya sister" and the other half is going to query "What exactly is her problem?" Here it is--simply, I have absolutely no ability to be spontaneous. Don't get me wrong, I can EMBRACE LIFE--I just have to have all of my ducks in a row before I'm willing to give an experience that great big hug it deserves. Well, your Dad warned me back in March that sometime in June I was going to get some practice at living in the moment. Apparently camping without the Boler was on the table and a tent was purchased. Of course, I immediately began to plan. Dad informed me that I hadn't quite grasped the concept of spontaneity. So, I said, "Do you expect us to just load the camping gear up and point it toward where we can find the best black flies?" Frighteningly the answer was something close to YES! It is definitely not June yet, but this past Thursday my moment arrived. The decision was made to head to Wheatley Provincial Park to do some spur of the moment April camping. Note I said Thursday, because Thursday didn't happen. But by Friday, with only 24 extra hours to wrap my head around it, we were off for a day of camping (the camper was allowed given it is April 😀) Although I still have a long way to go, I have at least made a baby step in the right direction. Extra points for heading off without a reservation. You are Always in my Prayers. Love Mom. P.S. I had an amazing time
