Coldish water. A+ Boat. Friendly crew. Fabulous snorkelling. And we could see four countries at the same time: Jordan, Egypt, Israel, and Saudi Arabia😄

Sitting on our comfy benches in the back of our 4x4 we held on very, very tight. As we fish-tailed through the sand dunes we were stunned by the incredible beauty of the Arabian Desert.
Have you ever rolled down a sand dune? It makes you a little dizzy, and you get really sandy, but it is so much fun. Climbing the rock arches was a little more challenging, but Ray and some of my new friends helped me get all the way up to the top! After a busy day we said goodnight to a sky full of stars to head off to our goat hair tents. I don’t think I would make a very good Bedouin but I definitely had a great night’s sleep curled up under a pile of warm blankets. You are Always in My Prayers. Love Mom. With the first call to prayer of the day still ringing in our ears we headed off to visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World (2007). Over 2000 years ago the Nabataean Arabs carved enormous temples and tombs into the sandstone cliffs to create what we know as Petra.
To beat the crowds we quickly made our way through the Siq with sandstone formations on both sides. As we came into an opening everyone was awestruck. It was bigger, red-er, and fancier than we had imagined. This first structure is called the treasury and is one of over 800 monuments in Petra. Almost 28,000 Fitbit steps later we still haven’t seen it all, but we are going to take a little break and go back tonight. Apparently they light it up with candles. I’m very excited. You are Always in My Prayers. Love Mom. P.S. Did you know Indiana Jones Temple of Doom was filmed here? Dear Mom,
Today was for you. You taught me the importance of a well placed Diet Coke. Yup—that happened today. Remember the time you and I polished off five pounds of blueberries in one day? I couldn’t find blueberries in Jordan, but I did eat the biggest pomegranate I’ve ever seen in my life. We used to spend hours floating in the pool at Green Acres. You always enjoyed the water—and the gossip 😄. Well, this afternoon was the king of all floats—the Dead Sea. You would have loved it—even the mud. So today, in my own way—as best I could so far away—I celebrated you. Love Your Daughter, Diane In Memorial Marie Anita Smith of Listowel went to be with Jesus on February 1st, 2019.
